Description:
If you'd like to take the children to a museum, but prefer to avoid the crowds at the very popular Natural History Museum and Science Museum, visit the V&A for a change.  There's such a wide range of art and design exhibits, from musical instruments to metalwork, fashion to furniture, that you're sure to find something to keep everyone in the family interested.  If your children need a little encouragement, borrow one of the family packs available from the main hall - there are plenty of topics to choose from, and they contain lots of activities to inspire little ones.
If you need to stop for a meal or other refreshments, visit the V&A cafe any time of year, or the Garden Cafe in summer. There are several different gift shops, with one particularly family-focused.  Allow up to half a day for a family visit here. With so much to see you would need several days to cover it all - but half a day in an indoor museum is plenty for most young children.
