Description:
The Manchester Museum houses a wide range of collections, including the extensive Egyptian collection - the largest in the UK.  Children love the Vivarium, which is home to a selection of reptiles and amphibians, including frogs. The ancient coins on display and the collection of fossils are also ideal for children.  There are also areas specially designed for children - Play & Learn is the perfect place for a breather for children - here they can do drawings, read or play.  And don't miss the Nature Discovery area, where you can see the world from a different perspective, as an animal, sea creature or even an insect in the delightfully named Owlwood, Oceandeep and Flowermeadow exhibitions.  Cafe Muse serves lunches, snacks and on Wednesdays - Fridays also evening meals (when it is open beyond museum hours) - or you could make use of the indoor picnic area provided.  There are children's trails and family backpacks available, and look out for special events with children's activities through the year.
