Description:
The dockyard is a great place for learning in a fun environment.  There's so much to see and do here - we didn't manage to fit it all in during our visit.  This means the ticket scheme, which allows admission for 1 year in the standard prices, is a great idea.  Our little ones loved the opportunity to get on a submarine as well as various ships and boats, including a lifeboat.  The RNLI's national collection of historic lifeboats is housed here.  There are lots of interactive displays for little ones to get their hands on.  Visit the ropery and you can learn all about rope-making and how important it has been in the world of ships - you can even have a go at making rope.
There is pushchair and wheelchair access to most of the dockyard areas, but of course the ships and submarine are not accessible (visitors can see virtual tours instead).

We love: the picnic area next to the indoor play area.  You can buy drinks and snacks here, but you are also welcome to bring your own - what a refreshing change!
