Description: This museum is the perfect place for train enthusiasts of all ages - and there is plenty for children to do here, with interactive exhibits.  Here you can learn about the history of how steam engines were made - all housed on the site of the former works.  You can even walk underneath an engine!  - or stand in a cab for a simulated drive (ideal for older children).  There is a play area with crayons and train pictures where children can spend a few quieter minutes in between exploring the engines and large displays.  Light refreshments are available at the Station Buffet cafe in the entrance hall of the museum. Allow around half a day to really make the most of your visit here.   Open: Daily 10.00 - 17.00 Closed 25th & 26th December and 1st January [also closes early at 15.00 on 24th December] Admission: Adult:   £6.40 Child:   £4.25 Family:£17.00 [2 adults & 2 children] or £20.20 [2 adults & 3 children] Under 3: free of charge
