Description:

A fascinating place for children to visit, Souter Lighthouse was the first to be run on electricity.  There's lots to see here - the engine room and the keeper's living quarters - and you can climb the 76 steps to the top of the lighthouse (or just see the view via the CCTV  if you prefer not to climb the steps).  In the compass room children can play and learn about life in the lighthouse and other things nautical, including smuggling and pirates.  Children's activity packs are available, as are infant/toddler hip-seats for loan.  The tea room serves light meals, and in season use some fruit and vegetables grown in the garden in the grounds of the lighthouse.  There is also an outdoor play area.
