This grand Victorian 4-star hotel is located right by the railway station in York - very convenient for those travelling by train. If you are travelling by car, you will appreciate the car park (parking is quite limited in York) - but note that spaces cannot be reserved and are available on a first-come first-served basis. Excellent food is served in the restaurant and bar/lounge and the quality of room service meals is very high. Rooms are spacious, so the children can play with a few toys on the floor without creating an obstacle course (unlike in some hotel rooms we've stayed in!). The hotel also has 3 acres of landscaped gardens, and views across the lovely city of York. Don't forget to pack your swimsuit so you can make the most of the health club, with its stylish indoor swimming pool.
