Picking Maternity Clothes to Accommodate Your Growing Bump
Being pregnant can be hard work but finding maternity clothes that last though pregnancy can be even harder.
Different women prefer different waistbands on trousers and skirts. Most first time pregnant women choose the under bump style waistband. This style sits low on the waist under your bump, not giving pressure. However, this style of waistband means you will need to buy longer maternity tops like tunics to cover your expanding bump. Some women like a waistband that fits snug over the bump. These waistbands are usually made from a soft jersey panel which sits high on the waist. This over the bump style doesn’t expose the bump and is warmer in colder weather. For women who want extra support there is the belly band option, which is great for keeping your bump cosy with a band of super stretch jersey. Trousers and skirts with adjustable waistbands are also ideal during pregnancy and wider waistbands will provide more support, allowing them to expand as you do. Buying maternity clothes that are made from a stretchy fabric will allow you to keep the same maternity clothes throughout pregnancy, accommodating your growing bump. Stretchy clothes also offer comfort and ease. Restrictive clothing is not ideal during pregnancy so avoid tight clothing and accessories like belts – if your bump is sensitive this will cause discomfort.
As your pregnancy develops choose flat pumps and slip on shoes that are comfy and easy to put on. High heels will make you unbalanced while making feet ache.
Whatever stage of pregnancy you’re at; there are always maternity clothes that offer comfort and support to accommodate your growing bump.
