Description:
New Lanark makes a great family day out - with history really brought to life in the various parts of the centre.  The village was based around a cotton mill, which was operated on extraordinarily enlightened principles for its time - led by the remarkable social reformer Robert Owen.  The buildings have been restored to offer insights into how people worked and lived in the 19th and early 20th centuries - and those who lived here were far more fortunate than most people of their time.  Its social history is so significant that the centre has been awarded World Heritage Site.
There are plenty of interactive exhibits for little ones to enjoy, and facilities for families with young children are good.
