Overview:

The Ormesby Hall estate is a wonderful oasis of calm in the heart of Teeside.  The house was formerly the residence of the Pennyman family, who had a very interesting history during their three centuries in the house.  A real attraction for lots of children will be the model railway exhibition - which has three layouts - one particularly aimed at children with Thomas the Tank Engine and some of the other well-known engines.  (Note that the model railway is accessed via stairs).  There is pushchair access to the parkland and gardens, but in the house you will need to carry young children, or borrow one of the baby-slings available.

Other facilities:
  • Children's Quiz
  • Various events suitable for families through the year, e.g. Festival of Kites,  Halloween Haunts
