The slate caverns make a fascinating day out for children, offering them an insight into how miners lived and worked years ago.  There is a choice of two underground tours - the Deep Mine tour takes you below ground on the steepest passenger railway in Britain - or take the Miners' Tramway tour through the man-made caves.  [Note that the tour trains are small and do not have pushchair access - but other areas are pushchair-accessible.]  You can also visit the Victorian village, and get some "Victorian" coins to spend in the shops and pub.  There is a choice of places to eat.

Opens at 10.00; Last mine tour: 17.15 (March - September), 16.15 (October - February)
