Hartlepool's Historic Quay provides a
fascinating insight into life at sea, and on shore during the 18th century.
The quay is a reconstructed sea-port, which includes shops and stalls,
brought to life with taped dialogue. Another major attraction is the
restored HMS Trincomalee, which is Britain's oldest floating warship. Children will love the Maritime Adventure
Centre, where there are hands-on activities on a nautical theme, and outside
there is a huge wooden playship to explore. The Bistro & Quayside
Coffee Shop offers a good range of meals - or if you want just a light snack
or drink, you could visit the Wingfield Castle Paddle Steamer.
Adjacent to the quay is the Museum of Hartlepool (admission free) which traces the history
of Hartlepool. |
