The Ffestiniog Railway runs through over 13
miles of beautiful landscape, starting by the sea at Porthmadog and climbing
over 700 feet into the mountains of Snowdonia. For steam railway
enthusiasts it's a real must-see, as all the trains are pulled by steam
engines. Don't forget your camera, as the scenery really is
magnificent. If you have time, stop off at Tan-y-Bwlch station in the
Snowdonia National Park, where there is a cafe as well as access to nature
trails and a lake-side picnic site at LLyn Mair. When you reach
Blaenau Ffestiniog, you could take the connecting bus to the Llechwedd Slate
Mines. Access
within the stations is fine for pushchairs, but you will either need to
request assistance or lift up your pushchair yourself onto the train.
Pushchairs not required during the journey may be given to the guard for
storage. Baby-changing facilities are provided at Porthmadog Harbour
station, where you will also find the Spooner's Cafe Bar and a gift shop. |
