This beautiful house dates from the 16th
century, although it has been altered and added to over the centuries, and
the gardens and parkland were landscaped during the 18th century by
'Capability' Brown. Once you've been impressed by the beautifully
furnished house, don't forget to visit the old kitchens and brew-house.
It is rumoured that Shakespeare was caught poaching in the grounds, as a
young man, and was brought to the Great Hall at Charlecote Park where
he was probably fined - or worse. He subsequently fled to London to
make a living there instead - and the rest is history...!
