The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) is an educational and fun place for all the family to enjoy. Here you will get inspiration on environmentally-responsible living, from recycling to energy-efficient housing and appliances. There is information on organic gardening, including companion planting and composting. Astonishingly, all the soil at CAT has been created there from composting - the site was built on old slate waste and had not soil when it was first set up. Children will love the interactive displays and the play area.
Note that the water-balanced cliff railway (which children will enjoy) operates from Easter - October only (admission prices are reduced outside these months).
