Description:
The Bluebell was the first preserved steam railway in England, and runs through a delightful stretch of countryside from Sheffield Park to Kings Cote (with onward bus service available to East Grinstead - a rail link is currently under construction).  As the name suggests, visit at the right time of year, and you will see the ground carpeted with bluebells for parts of the journey.  Trains run at weekends all year and also on weekdays during the summer.  There is a small model railway at Sheffield Park station, as well as the engine sheds.  At Horsted Keynes station you will find the carriage works.  Refreshments are available at Horsted Keynes or have a meal in the Bessemer Arms at Sheffield Park, where highchairs are available.  Station staff will help with getting a pushchair on board the train.  Baby-changing facilities are located in the Bessemer Arms restaurant at Sheffield Park station and in the Ladies at Horsted Keynes station.  Pullman trains offer formal on-board dining for lunches and evening meals (booking in advance essential).
