Description:

One of England's most magnificent castles, Bamburgh Castle stands high above the village of Bamburgh, offering far-reaching views to Lindisfarne and the Farne Islands.  It was restored at the end of the nineteenth century by Lord Armstrong, whose descendents continue to live at the castle.  The interior is just as impressive as the exterior, particularly the King's Hall - and there are plenty of works of art and a huge collection of china to admire.
The Clocktower tea rooms serve light lunches, cakes and other refreshments, and highchairs and a children's menu are available.
Pushchairs are allowed in the castle, but note that there are some steps inside to negotiate - so you may find it easier to use a back-carrier for baby.

Note: just before you leave the castle there is a "Dungeon" exhibition.  This is unsuitable for young children so be sure to whisk your little ones swiftly past this area.

We love: the unbeatable location
