Description:

This magnificent medieval castle makes a great day out for all the family. It is one of the largest inhabited castles in England. The state rooms are very impressive, yet have a real homely, lived-in feel, with photos of the Northumberland family on display. Children will have a wonderful time at the Knight's School, where they can dress up as knights and ladies and have a go at all sorts of activities, including jousting practice. (Do be cautious of the Dragon's Quest, as this is quite scary and would not be suitable for very young children). Fans of Harry Potter will love to see where his first flying lesson was filmed. If you wish to eat at the castle you can choose from the informal Courtyard Cafe or the Sanctuary restaurant and wine bar (which is open all year).
